Imagine visiting a different beach every day of the year; on Antigua you can do exactly this, and that equals a lot of snorkeling options! Located 30 miles north of Antigua is its sparsely settled sister island, Barbuda. Often you will find these two islands listed together in travel guides as tourists often visit Barbuda via a ferry ride or charter boat from Antigua. Both islands boast white sand beaches surrounded by coral reefs, walls and even ship wrecks. Barbuda also offers pink sandy beaches that are reminiscent of Bermudian beaches. Visibility for snorkelling is excellent here as it ranges anywhere between 50-140 feet. Cades Reef (partially a designated underwater park) and the wreck of the Andes are popular snorkel destinations. Snorkelers often report seeing Barracuda and although they may look scary, no attacks on humans have been reported. The diverse marine life in the waters surrounding Antigua and Barbuda include Angelfish, Peacock Flounders (some say the largest and most colourful Peacock Flounders are found in Antigua and Barbuda), Sea Urchins, Crustaceans, Sponges, Spiny Lobsters, Molluscs Hawksbill Turtles and much, much more!
